Pakistani officials reported a search operation for the transport plane. A Boeing 737 with 5 people on board went missing near Karachi.

The Pakistanis reported the disappearance of the plane, among others. via Facebook. Pakistan Airports Authority reported that on Tuesday, July 7, at 9:18 p.m. local time, a Boeing 737 reported a navigation system failure. The 27-year-old plane belonged to K2 Airways.

The missing plane was flying from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to Karachi, Pakistan. Local air traffic control tried to guide the plane, but after three minutes the radar systems reported a rapid decrease in traffic altitude. The published statement shows that communication was lost approximately 250 kilometers west of Karachi.

The Flightradar24 website, based on preliminary data, wrote about a possible disaster in the Arabian Sea. Geo News journalists, in turn, noted that the machine disappeared from radars near Ormary in Pakistan’s Baluchistan. The documents show that there were 5 crew members on board the plane. In its announcement, the Airports Authority informed about the commencement of a search and rescue operation at sea.

“We continue to pray fervently for the safety of our colleagues,” said the private cargo airline K2 Airways on Wednesday, July 8. The company said it is fully cooperating with the Airports Authority and other government agencies in Pakistan.

It is worth noting that the last serious aviation incident in Pakistan was recorded in 2020. A Pakistan International Airlines passenger plane crashed while approaching Karachi airport. There were 99 people on board at the time: 91 passengers and eight crew members. Only two people survived.
