Pociąg Różowej Zupy

With the pink train in mind, do you think it’s about a Barbie-related event? Nothing could be further from the truth. Here is a journey related to the famous dish.

The pink train was prepared as part of the promotional initiative of the capital of Lithuania (Vilnius) and refers to the so-called Lithuanian Cold Drink Festival. Vilnius Pink Soup Fest. We are talking about one of the most original culinary events in Europe. On this occasion, wagons with unusual interiors were put on the tracks. They will benefit, among others: Polish tourists.

Here, Poles will board the pink train

From May 15 to August 30, Polish travelers can travel on the Pink Soup Train from Warsaw to Vilnius. The organizers assure that it will be an unforgettable experience. The photos show that pink walls, ceilings, floors and decorations await tourists. All this in a classic and spacious wagon. Accents referring to Lithuanian cold soup – a pink cold soup based on beetroot – can be seen almost everywhere. There is even a smiling plush mascot that makes children laugh.

The machine with a special wagon runs on the Mockava-Vilnius route, which is the result of cooperation between Go Vilnius, the city’s tourism and business development agency, and LTG Link, the Lithuanian national railway carrier. The journey from Poland is organized in the form of one trip on one reservation: passengers go from PKP Intercity to Mockawa on the Polish-Lithuanian border, and then to Vilnius on the decorated LTG Link train. From Poland, trains to Vilnius run every day from larger cities, including Krakow, Szczecin and Suwałki. Ticket prices on this route from Warsaw start from PLN 68.85.

“The idea was that the trip itself would be a kind of beginning of the visit to Vilnius. The city is not located far from Poland, so we wanted to add an element of surprise to this trip. The idea was to do something light, fun and reflect the local and unique character of the city,” assured Eglė Girdzijauskaitė, communications director at Go Vilnius, the official agency for tourism and business development of the city of Vilnius.

A journey to the cold soup festival and more

People interested in traveling on the pink train can go to the cold soup festival, which takes place from May 29 to 31. Then there will be a lot of attractions in Vilnius. When you get off the carriage, you will see a city with pink accents and a stage with concerts.

Highlights include the 50-meter pink water slide, the annual Waiters’ Race, and the “Pink Break,” during which people from all over the city stop to eat lunch, the centerpiece of which is pink soup.

If you prefer to leave at a different date, that is also possible. The special wagon will be available until the end of August.
