The paraglider couldn’t believe his eyes. This is what he saw at the top of the pyramid
The recording of the flight over the Egyptian pyramid became a hit on the Internet. It’s all because of the dog on top of the building, which stole the hearts of Internet users.
A tourist who paraglided over the Pyramid of Cheops in Giza earlier this week saw something unusual at the top of the ancient structure. He quickly zoomed in on the image recorded by the camera, and a dog appeared to the eyes of Internet users watching the recording. The quadruped walked casually around the square top of a nearly 150-meter-high building, which he had to climb on his own.
A dog on top of the Great Pyramid
The Great Pyramid of Giza, also called the Pyramid of Cheops, is the most famous example of ancient Egyptian architecture in the world. Although visiting the interior of the monument is open to tourists, entering the building itself is prohibited under penalty of imprisonment. It is therefore not surprising that extreme athlete Marshall Mosher, who flew a paraglider over the Egyptian pyramid on October 14, did not expect to see anyone on its top. So he was very surprised when it turned out that there was… a dog walking on the top of the pyramid. The beige-caramel-colored quadruped first had to climb the nearly 150-meter-high structure, although there are no witnesses to this event. So it is not known how the dog ended up on the pyramid. The pyramid’s blocks are really big – even if such a climb was not impossible, it was certainly really exhausting for a small animal.
It’s not a dog, it’s Anubis
Internet users who had the opportunity to see the popular recording of Mosher’s flight do not hide their admiration for the brave dog. Some people joke that the animal is actually an Egyptian deity. “It’s not a dog. This is the Egyptian god Anubis. He is considered the guide of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of tombs. That’s why it’s above the pyramid,” reads one of the published comments. The dog reportedly took advantage of the opportunity to reach the top of the pyramid to bark at passing birds.
The next day, Marshall Mosher deployed his paraglider again to retrieve the dog from the pyramid, but the dog was no longer there and no one knew where it had gone. As confirmed by local portals Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net, dogs entering the pyramid area is a common phenomenon, although it is quite surprising for an animal to reach the top.
