The paradise island wants to attract tourists. “Life here is easy and people are friendly”

In Polish travel agencies, we can more and more often see the offers of holidays in Mauritius. Located next to the island of Reunion, it cannot count on such a great interest. The French overseas department in the Indian Ocean is still popular among tourists from France. – Currently, we are visited by about 600,000 tourists a year, but many of them are actually people arriving at the family – said the Tourism Committee of the Island of Reunion during the ITB International Tourist Exchange in Berlin. The island’s main problem is too few air connections.

– People who would like to spend a quiet month here, to meditate or associate with nature, will not find a better place in the world – says a representative of the organization of how much de la réunion tourisme in an interview with “Wprost”.

Reunion, Mauritius or Madagascar?

Reunion is located less than 1000 kilometers east of the Madagascar coast and about 230 kilometers from Mauritius’s beaches. However, there are no regular ferries between the islands, which is why tourists usually have to decide on only one of three places.

While Madagascar attracts confident travelers, prepared for long trips and possible inconveniences, fans of hotel ministries and Africa in the word version decide on Mauritius and Reunion. – Reunion and Mauritius complement each other and are the opposite of Madagascar – believes a representative of the Tourism Committee of the Island Reunion.

– We have a very rich nature and it’s not just about beaches. Not everywhere in the world, as with us, tourists will be able to climb the active volcano. Tropical forests, the most beautiful trekking routes – all this can be found on this small island with an area of ​​only 2,512 square km. Life here is easy and pleasant, and people are friendly. For people who would like to spend a quiet month here, to meditate or associate with nature, there is no better place in the world – he adds.

The island wants to attract tourists

Reunion wants to become a more popular tourist direction, but the biggest obstacle is flights, or rather their lack. – We do not have enough hotel base and we are not connected enough with the world. Our main task is therefore to expand the infrastructure and attract airlines to the island. Most people come from Paris, and we would like them to fly from London and Berlin, as is the case in Mauritius, an island next to us and a decisive more open to the world – the committee presents.

It is worth mentioning that Reunion is the Zamorski Department of France, where as EU citizens we can travel easily. All you need is an ID card or passport, you don’t have to have a visa.
