The owners of these properties only have one week. They face severe penalties

Homeowners have only until the end of January to report the presence of asbestos. Failure to make such a declaration may result in a fine of up to PLN 20,000. zloty.
It is estimated that there are approximately 15,000 in Poland. tons of products containing asbestos. This mineral is considered one of the most dangerous pollutants in the world. For over 100 years it has been used to produce many asbestos-cement materials.
In our country, it was most often used for the production of roof coverings (eternit boards are still used on many buildings), but also balcony slabs, façade panels, ventilation ducts and chimney ducts. The production and use of products containing asbestos have been banned in Poland since September 1998. Although the asbestos removal campaign has been ongoing for years, the data quoted above show that there is still a lot to do. All asbestos products in our country must be removed by 2032.
Homeowners have one week to report asbestos
Portalsamorzadowy.pl reminds that owners of properties where asbestos may be present have specific obligations. They must check whether there are asbestos products on their premises and assess their technical condition. Products containing asbestos qualified for replacement must be removed, while undamaged products can be safely used until the next inspection.
People using asbestos products prepare information on this matter and submit it to the commune head, mayor or city president (individuals), or to the voivodeship marshal (entrepreneurs). Updated information must be submitted annually by January 31 for the previous calendar year until the product is no longer in use and disposed of. This means that property owners have exactly one week to do so.
Owners who do not submit such declarations risk sanctions. If the inspection detects unreported products containing asbestos, building owners can expect to be fined from PLN 10 to PLN 20,000. zloty. You may also lose the opportunity to use the Clean Air program.
You can apply for funding
The portal points out that individual local governments offer subsidies for asbestos removal. For example, Wrocław offers residents up to 100 percent. subsidies. All you need to do is submit the declaration by January 31 this year, and the subsequent work will be performed by specialists appointed by the city.
