The only such stop in Poland. Only German trains leave here

Pociąg Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn

This railway stop is an amazing place on the map of Poland. Polish trains have no longer leave it since 2000.

Today, only the German rail bus buses of the regional carrier Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH commute to Krzewina Zgorzelecka. “Passengers can easily get to two German towns: Zittau and Hagenwerder without major obstacles,” writes Justyna Orlik, journalist of the tuwroclaw.com website. Since 2000, there are no Polish trains in a small border village. This is the only place on the map of Poland.

German trains in Poland

Less than three hours from Wrocław, on the route from Zgorzelec to Bogatynia there is Krzewina Zgorzelecka, a small Lower Silesian village, where we will find a modest railway stop. It is located right next to the already closed, devastated train station. Neither POLREGIO or Lower Silesian Railways leave this place. Today you can see only the compositions of the German private regional carrier Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn (UDED). “In the village itself we will find the ruins of a historic manor, as well as the renovated and ruin of flood houses,” we read on tuwroclaw.com.

Ostritz attractions

From Krzewina Zgorzelecka, you can get abroad to the German Ostritz, located on the other side of Nysa, Lusatian. The footbridge connecting both places in the 1990s was the main trail of smugglers. Today, small Ostritz is a town where little is happening.

Even here, however, tourists will find accommodation and restaurants, as well as several noteworthy monuments. I am talking primarily about the market, which is really big for the size of the city itself. Located here, among others Historic town hall and fountain, as well as several old tenement houses. The most important attraction of the town, however, is the Cistercian monastery founded in 1234 Marienthal. Interestingly, it was in Ostritz in 2008 that the first monument of John Paul II was unveiled in Eastern Germany. In the vicinity of amateurs of active tourism will also find many pedestrian and bicycle routes.
