The Olympic podium was beautiful! A puck around the Pole’s neck
Kacper Tomasiak is the bronze medalist of the 2026 Winter Olympics on the large hill. The 19-year-old boy did something great again, and this is what the medal ceremony looked like.
Perhaps even the greatest optimists did not expect what happened in the last few dozen hours – in the context of Polish ski jumping. And the facts are that Kacper Tomasiak, at the age of 19, won two Olympic medals at one games – looking great in the Italian Predazzo.
Winter 2026: Kacper Tomasiak with an Olympic medal! This is what the ceremony looked like
After the silver medal won during the competition on the normal hill at Winter Olympics 2026, the Polish diamond received the puck after the competition on a large facility. Interestingly, the medal was worn by Kirsty Coventry, the head of the International Olympic Committee.
Tomasiak, just like a few days ago, attacked the podium again (successfully) in the final series. The Pole jumped to third place, once again proving that he is mentally very strong. And it seems that the best is still ahead of the Polish player.
Let us add that in two days (i.e. on Monday, February 16) the ZIO 2026 duet competition will take place. Poland will not be without a chance for another success. You can almost be sure that the two chosen by coach Maciej Maciusiak will include Tomasiak.
2026 Games in Italy. Where and when to watch the Poles’ starts?
The Polish national team during the opening games consists of 60 athletes. In the 21st century, there has never been a Polish woman or a Pole on the Olympic podium during the Winter Olympics. During the last winter games, Poland finished the competition with one medal. The bronze medal was won by ski jumper Dawid Kubacki in the competition on the normal hill.
It is already known that Kubacki’s result was beaten at the Winter Olympics 2026 by a debutant among Olympians – Kacper Tomasiak. The 19-year-old great talent won a silver medal in the normal hill competition and a bronze medal in the large hill competition in Predazzo.
Another Olympic runner-up, Vladimir Semirunni, who made his debut at the Winter Olympics, was also runner-up in the 10 km speed skating race.
In the history of the Olympic Games, the Polish national team has won a total of 26 medals – seven gold, nine silver and ten bronze, respectively. Interestingly, the first bronze medal for Poland was won by Franciszek Gąsienica-Groń (Nordic combined) almost exactly 70 years ago, during the Olympic Games in… Cortina d’Ampezzo. This year, history has come full circle in a beautiful Italian-Polish Olympic circle.
