The castle in Łańcut, built in 1629–1642, remained in the hands of the Lubomirski family for over three centuries, and then their heirs, the Potocki family. At that time, it was not only a family home, but also a place where cultural and public life developed. Over the centuries, it has hosted numerous guests, including crowned heads. The original architectural layout, which was an important strategic point for the entire south-eastern Poland, was of the palazzo in fortezza type. It consisted of a four-wing, two-story palace with four towers in the corners, inscribed in a regular pentagon of Old Dutch-type bastion fortifications.
At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, the former fortress was transformed into a comfortable, comfortably furnished residence, surrounded by a park. The initiator of the reconstruction was the last of the family, Izabela Lubomirska née Czartoryska, after whose death the castle was inherited by the duchess’s grandson, Count. Alfred Potocki. The family estate he established in 1830 meant that the entire estate, including the castle, survived as a coherent whole until World War II. The luxurious estate, open to the public, was maintained thanks to a modern agro-industrial economy. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, during the rule of the 3rd Ordinate, Count Roman Potocki, the facility was once again rebuilt, giving it its current shape and appearance.
The next broadcast is scheduled for November 14 this year. On that day, the National Bank of Poland will put into circulation two silver collector coins with a nominal value of PLN 10 from the series “Steadfast soldiers cursed by the communists” – “Henryk Flame Bartek” and “Kr. Władysław Gurgacz Sem.
