The most peaceful place on earth was chosen. We find them in Europe

Iceland has once again been recognized as the most peaceful country in the world. The island country, eagerly visited by tourists and chosen as a place to live also by many Poles, took first place in the latest edition of the Global Peace Index. Ireland, New Zealand, Austria and Switzerland were also at the top of the ranking. However, the world ranking does not only show places considered particularly peaceful – it also includes countries where the security situation remains much more difficult.

Iceland the winner, Poland in the third ten

The annual Global Peace Index ranking prepared by the Institute of Economics and Peace covers 163 countries and territories. When creating the list, the following are analyzed, among others: the level of social security, the country’s participation in internal and international conflicts, as well as the degree of militarization. Iceland has been leading the ranking for years and also retained the first place this time. It was closely followed by Ireland, New Zealand, Austria and Switzerland. Singapore, Portugal, Denmark, Slovenia and Finland also made it to the top ten.

In this year’s edition, Poland was classified in 36th place, which means a drop by one position compared to the previous ranking. The above included, among others: Czech Republic, Finland, Slovakia, Bhutan and Qatar, while Poland overtook Thailand and the United States.

It is not safe in these countries

When analyzing Global Peace Index data, it is also worth looking at the end of the ranking. Russia took last place, followed by Ukraine and Sudan. Low positions also went to countries popular among tourists. Georgia was ranked 109th, Thailand 86th and the Dominican Republic 79th. The United States was particularly distant, ranking 128th, just two places ahead of Brazil.
