Unauthorized withdrawals from Santander accounts. An expert advises what to do
Information about unauthorized withdrawals from bank accounts worried customers for understandable reasons. Dr. Przemysław Barbrich from the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) spoke in an interview with TVN24 about what to do when we realize that money has disappeared from our account. Barbich emphasized that quick reaction and calm action are key.
– First of all, you should contact your bank’s hotline and report this information. The bank then takes appropriate action to block the account and block the card. It is also a good idea to report the same situation to the police – said Barbich.
The ZBP representative pointed out that one of the simplest and most effective methods of protection against the loss of significant amounts is to limit daily and one-time limits on withdrawals from payment and credit cards. – It is worth setting the limits for withdrawing funds from payment cards or credit cards at a sufficiently low level, because this protects us against losing larger amounts from our payment cards or credit cards – Barbich emphasized.
The TVN24 guest also advised taking practical precautions, such as covering the keyboard when entering the PIN, checking the appearance of ATMs or regularly reviewing account history.
