The mObywatel app has a new function. It’s about your safety
The mObywatel application gains a new function – Knowledge Base, which helps protect users from threats on the network. How does this new feature work and how to enable it?
The Ministry of Digital Affairs has announced the introduction of a new function, another one in the mObywatel application, which aims to increase users’ safety on the Internet. The “Knowledge Base”, which is part of the “Safely on the Net” service, allows access to verified information on online threats. The update was published on September 11, in line with earlier announcements by the ministry.
Development of the Safe Online service
The first version of the “Safely on the Net” service was introduced on August 13, but further development was announced from the very beginning. The new function, the Knowledge Base, is an important step in this process. The Ministry emphasizes that this development was planned from the very beginning. The introduction of the Knowledge Base, developed by specialists from CERT Polska, gives users of the mObywatel application a tool to protect their data and avoid threats on the Internet.
The knowledge base is available directly in the “Safely on the Net” service and can be easily found by clicking the light bulb icon on the application’s home screen. After selecting this option, the user gains access to articles on various online threats. Initially, topics on investment fraud, telephone fraud, and instructions on reporting incidents are available. In the future, it is planned to expand the range of topics covered, and selected content will allow you to go to the CERT Polska website.
How do I access the Knowledge Base?
To use the new feature, you need to update the mObywatel app to version 4.41, which is available on Google Play and the App Store. The update is being rolled out gradually, so some users may need a little patience before they get access to the new version. It is also important to update the app regularly, which not only gives you access to new features, but also ensures security by removing detected errors and vulnerabilities.
One of the more interesting elements introduced in the August update of mObywatel is the ability to report suspicious content, such as malicious websites, suspicious SMS messages and emails, or other forms of fraud, such as fake online stores. Thanks to this function, users can actively respond to threats, and all reports are appropriately categorized and analyzed.
New features in the mObywatel application
Before the end of the year, new options are planned to be added to the mObywatel application, such as a blood donor ID and the mStłuczka function. They will enable, among other things, the exchange of statements after a road accident and reporting damage to the insurer directly from the application. Work on the integration of additional documents, such as senior cards or teacher IDs, is also underway.
