The ministry proposed Father Rydzyk a settlement. Either plots or PLN 210 million
Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage Maciej Wróbel gave an interview to the Interia Biznes portal. One of the issues raised in the conversation was the dispute with Father Tadeusz Rydzyk.
Deputy Minister Wróbel was asked to speak on the costs of building the museum “Memory and identity”. This is the project of the Lux Veritatis foundation of Father Tadeusz Rydzyk, who is controversial due to high funding from the state budget.
Two proceedings regarding the Museum of Father Rydzyk
– Two proceedings are pending. The first is conducted by the prosecutor’s office in Rzeszów, it is a crime regarding the exceeding of the rights and failure to fulfill his duties by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Piotr Gliński – Wróbel began.
– The second case concerns the contract concluded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2018 with the Lux Veritatis Foundation, which concerned the creation of the “Memory and identity” museum. The contract was concluded in our opinion in a way that exposes the State Treasury to a loss, because it was decided to spend over PLN 210 million on the construction of the museum along with a permanent exhibition on a plot of private property – he continued.
The ministry offers Father Rydzyk a settlement
The deputy minister emphasized that at the time of signing the contract by Lux Veritatis and MKDin, the Foundation was not yet the owner of the plots in question. The Warsaw Redemptorist Order handed over the real estate only a few months later. However, the politician hopes that the dispute can be resolved without a long trial.
– We submitted a call in court for a settlement attempt and we tell Father Tadeusz Rydzyk “checking”. Either the Foundation will return PLN 210 million to the State Treasury or transfer to the State Treasury plots that are the property of the Foundation – he revealed.
– Then the museum will no longer stand on a private property, i.e. the interest of the Treasury will be secured. Because the agreement concluded in 2018 said that when the ministry resigns from co -conducting this museum, the building, i.e. in fact the expenditure for PLN 210 million pass into the ownership of the foundation. The foundation is unlawful at that time – he explained.
