The Ministry of National Defense signs key contracts. The army will get modern drones
In ITWL, contracts have been signed by which the Polish army will gain modern drones. The production and development of systems will start this year.
On July 22, 2025, a meeting was held at the Institute of Air Forces, during which key contracts were concluded with military research institutes. The documents were signed by, among others Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk and directors of five technical institutes, including Military Institute of Technical Armament and Military Institute of Armored and Motor Technology.
Implementation of unmanneders
Signed agreements include work on the development and improvement of tactics, procedures and technologies of the use of unmanned weapon systems. The scope of activities includes design, production, testing, operation and technical support of combat drones. Special drone laboratories will go to the Polish Armed Forces, enabling their development and current modifications. The program assumes the implementation of unmanneders at the level of teams, companies, battalions and brigades.
However, the amendment to the regulations will be required. The new law will allow the army to buy drone systems at the stage of their testing. Shopping of the smallest units will be possible directly by individual military units.
Key center
The Center for Unmanned Systems in ITWL will become a key center where the army, institutes, companies and specialized units, such as the command of the Cyberspace Defense Forces, will cooperate.
This command will be responsible for AI software and algorithms for drones. Laboratories will be located in both operational and territorial troops. The ITWL center will be included in the network of innovation training grounds to shorten the implementation time. This year, about PLN 200 million will be allocated to training drones. The first sets are to be sent to the army in September.
