The Ministry of Justice revealed data on evictions. The queue of the premises waiting for emptying still has over 10,000 matters

The Ministry of Justice has published fresh statistics regarding the eviction from apartments in 2024 – this is a good time to check if the bailiffs had more work. Although there is more often talk about data related to the development market, Gethome.pl experts decided to look at the numbers showing the scale of eviction and the size of the so -called eviction queue in Poland. These statistics shed light on the challenges that the bailiff’s execution system is measured and the real problems of people who lose their roof over their heads. The analysis allows you to better understand how the situation in the housing market is changing and what consequences legal changes have in this area.

The eviction queue is still long

The number of remaining for the bailiffs to deal with emptying residential premises in 2022 was almost 10,700 and since then it fell a bit (to about 10,300 at the end of last year).

-It is worth noting that after repealing pandemic eviction restrictions, the number of eviction from apartments performed in 2023-2024 stabilized at about 4,700 a year-notes Andrzej Prajsnar, an expert of the Gethome.pl portal.

Changes in regulations and evictions

As the expert notes, the results from 2023-2024 (approx. 4,700 eviction from apartments) are clearly smaller than the values recorded in 2017 and 2018, i.e. before significant changes in the Code of Civil Procedure. This confirms that the amendment to the regulations had a real reduction in the number of eviction, although it did not solve the problem.

– We are talking about the amendment to Article 1046 Paragraph 4 of the Code of Civil Procedure. After the modification of the regulations from April 2019, the tenant can no longer be removed from the premises or house to the shelter or lodging house, if the commune did not find such a temporary room within six months – explains Andrzej Prajsnar.
