The government submitted a draft regulation for the minimum wage in 2026 to review that the lowest domestic will increase by PLN 140.

The government submitted a draft regulation for the minimum remuneration for work in 2026. He assumes that from January 1 next year the minimum wage will be PLN 4806 gross, and the minimum hourly rate – PLN 31.40 gross. This means that the government has not changed its previous position in this matter.

The government presented its proposal after the Social Dialogue Council failed to reach an agreement on the amount of the minimum wage next year. Trade unions proposed that the lowest domestic would increase to PLN 5015 gross. However, employers’ environments protested against this proposal.

Minimum wage in Poland. Final decision in September

The government will make the final decision on the amount of the minimum wage in 2026 by September 15 this year. Until then, both social partners and everyone interested can report their opinions.

Let us remind you that currently the minimum wage is PLN 4,666 gross. This amount is valid from January 1 this year. Last year – in connection with high inflation – the minimum wage grew twice, first in January, and then in July. The hourly rate for mandate contracts and services for the provision of services to which the provisions on the order apply, at the moment amounts to PLN 28.10.

As Eurostat shows, only eight European Union countries have a minimum wage higher than Poland. With a minimum wage of almost 1100 euros, we take 9th place among EU countries, slightly giving way to Slovenia and Spain (1278 and 1381 euros, respectively). Luxembourg can boast of the highest minimum wage, it is 2638 euros, or 11,237 PLN. Ireland and the Netherlands (2282 and 2193 euros) occupy the next places. The minimum wage exceeds EUR 2,000 in two more countries. It is about Germany and Belgium (2161 and 2070 euros).
