“The Millennium of the Coronation of Bolesław the Brave” is the best banknote in 2025.
The National Bank of Poland received an award for issuing the commemorative banknote “The Millennium of the Coronation of Bolesław the Brave”.
President of the National Bank of Poland prof. Today, Adam Glapiński hosted representatives of the International Banknote Society (IBNS), who presented him with an award for a collector’s banknote “Millennium of the coronation of Bolesław the Brave“”” with a denomination of PLN 20, recognized as the Best Commemorative Banknote of 2025.
In the competition organized by the International Banknote Society, the Polish banknote competed with issues of central banks, among others. Turkmenistan, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Botswana, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka.
In the voting, which lasted from December 15 to 29, 2025, collectors and enthusiasts from around the world chose the banknote they considered the most original and attractive. The banknote issued by the National Bank of Poland won the largest number of votes and was recognized as the best in the world in 2025.
The National Bank of Poland introduced the “Millennium of the Coronation of Bolesław the Brave” banknote into circulation on November 5, 2025. This is another issue referring to the millennium of the coronation – previously, the National Bank of Poland commemorated this event with collector coins.
