An outstanding trainer from 1958 trained in Wrocław fencing clubs, starting from AZS University of Technology Wrocław, and then, among others AZS AWF Wrocław.

In 1978-85 Medyński was a coach of the Polish national team in a sword. The team under his hand won during the Olympic Games in Moscow (1980) historical, the first Polish medal in competition in this weapon. Of the five swordsmen who formed the band, the Three were Medyński’s pupils.

This great success was repeated by the Medyński team during the IO in Beijing (2008). Again, in the middle of the team consisted of charges of coach from Wrocław. Poles again became Olympic runners in the sword. Interestingly, in both Moscow and Beijing, in the fight for gold, Poland turned out to be weaker than France.

In addition to Olympic successes, Medyński raised players who reached for countless Polish champions, world and European championships. His pupils were, among others Tomasz Motyk, Robert Andrzejuk, Joanna Jakimiuk, Robert Feliksiak, Leszek Swornowski and Mariusz Strzałka.
