The legend resigns! This is the result of the disaster in the Four Hills Tournament

Simon Ammann

Simon Ammann withdrew from the Four Hills Tournament. The Swiss did not make it through Saturday’s qualifying in Oberstdorf.

The legendary jumper took only 51st place in Saturday’s qualifications. For the first time in his career, Simon Ammann did not manage to get through this stage of the competition in Oberstdorf.

“After qualifying in Oberstdorf, Simon Ammann and the coaching staff decided to withdraw from the Four Hills Tournament. The player will take part in home training and focus on the rest of the season,” we read in the official statement from the Swiss federation, which appeared on Sunday morning.

It is worth adding that a similar decision, but before the start of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament, was made by Kamil Stoch. The Polish champion wants to prepare in peace for the rest of the World Cup season.

Dawid Kubacki, like Ammann, will not remember the performance in Oberstdorf well. The Olympic medalist from the Beijing Olympics (2022) also failed to qualify for Sunday’s competition. This is even more disappointing because Kubacki was supposed to be looking better in recent days and giving hope for improving his form. The experienced jumper was suspended from the A team a week earlier, during the World Cup in Engelberg.

However, reality in Kubacki’s context turned out to be exceptionally brutal.

73rd Four Hills Tournament. Where and when to watch the competition?

The Four Hills Tournament is the most prestigious series of each ski jumping World Cup season. This is the 73rd edition of this unique competition. The competition is traditionally held on four ski jumping hills: two in Germany (Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen) and two in Austria (Innsbruck and Bischofshofen).

The first competition of the 73rd TCS takes place in Oberstdorf. A trial series (3:00 p.m.) and a competition (4:30 p.m.) are scheduled for Sunday (December 29). The World Cup competition, including TCS, can be watched on TVN, Eurosport and the MAX platform.
