The final exams began on Monday. It was on this day that the last generation decided to block traffic towards Prague. The Warsaw police announced the difficulties in the afternoon.

“A group of about 20 people, participants of the registered assembly, sits on the road of the Poniatowski Bridge in Warsaw and blocks the passage towards Prague. The meeting continues” – they told the uniform via platform X.

It is worth recalling that today – 5 May – matura exams began. Traditionally, the Polish language matura exam at the basic level went “at the first fire”.

The last generation blocked the key bridge. Connects two districts of Warsaw

In a police announcement we read that the officers began to direct the traffic, indicating alternative detours. “Circular traffic towards the center is normal. Trams run both ways,” reads. The uniforms also appealed to drivers to “follow their instructions”.

OP members do not hide the fact that they deliberately chose the first day of the final exams to organize a road block during it. This lasts from the very morning – for seven hours. “This is the longest blockage of the last generation,” they emphasize with pride on X.

They informed about their plans in advance. “High school graduates from Warsaw will go to the final exams. And who will shout about high school graduates and small towns who cannot reach their final exams because they do not have a bus? Metropolitan hypocrisy!” – they wrote on May 2.

What is the last generation for? “We protest against harm and injustice”

OP explains that he decides to “civic disobedience” due to difficult times. “We do as much as we can: for ourselves, our loved ones and all others. We protest against harm and injustice,” the group on X.

The last generation has two main demands that we can read about on the official website. This “ankle increase in investment in rail and public transport by transferring 100 percent of funds from the construction of new expressways and highways to regional and local rail and bus connections from 2025” also has “creating a joint monthly ticket for PLN 50 for regional transport throughout the country”. “We want a uniform system of honoring tickets,” they write.
