The last day of CPN in this form. Changes for drivers from tomorrow
The CPN package in its current formula ends today. From tomorrow, higher excise duty will come into force, while VAT and price limits at gas stations will remain reduced.
At the end of March, the government adopted a package called “Fuel Prices Lower” (CPN). Its main assumption was, among others, reduction of the VAT rate on fuels from 23%. up to 8%, as well as a reduction of excise duty to the minimum EU levels (by PLN 29/l for petrol and PLN 28/l for diesel) and the introduction of maximum fuel prices at stations. The package has been extended several times over the last two months. At the beginning of June, the government made another such decision, extending the CPN until June 15, i.e. until today.

What’s next for the package? The government decided to gradually phase it out. A higher excise tax will apply from June 16, while reduced VAT and price limits at gas stations will apply for another two weeks, i.e. until the end of June. – We assumed, and we did, that we would pay extra until the summer to prevent fuel prices from going up. (…) We had the cheapest fuel in Europe during this time of crisis, but of course we will finish this project now, in the summer – Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, on the night from Sunday to Monday, representatives of the US and Iran announced that an agreement to end hostilities had been reached. A 60-day memorandum on this matter is to be signed this Friday in Geneva. The Strait of Hormuz is also scheduled to open then.

As the latest survey by the Pollster Research Institute for “Super Express” shows, as many as 78 percent Poles want the CPN to be extended until the end of the year, while only 7 percent is of the opposite opinion, and 15 percent there is no opinion on this matter. Similar results were brought by a SW Research survey for “Wprost” conducted a month ago. 69.2% wanted the package to be extended until the end of 2026. respondents, and every tenth respondent expressed a different opinion. Nearly every fifth respondent could not specify their opinion on this issue.
