The Italian tycoon versus the rest of the world. Will Polish clubs make dreams come true?

The final tournament of the Volleyball Champions League is scheduled for the weekend of May 16-17. Will Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia defend his title from last year? It’s going to be interesting!

Once again, PlusLiga clubs spoiled Polish fans. Among the four best teams of the 2025/26 season on the Old Continent, there are two “ours” – PGE Projekt Warszawa and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. However, it is not certain whether any Polish team will appear in the final on Sunday (May 17).

The Warsaw team and the Jurassic Knights were scattered after two semi-finals, in which they face serious challenges. Which is nothing particularly surprising at this stage of the competition.

Final Four of the Volleyball Champions League: Will the cup return to PlusLiga?

The club from Warsaw will appear in the first of the semi-finals, on Saturday facing the defenders of the 2025 Champions League. Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia is the main favorite for the final triumph in the capital of Piedmont, where this year’s Final Four takes place. However, the Torino Arena may witness an interesting match, as it is no secret that PGE Projekt has in its ranks people who may positively surprise the Italian champions, including Kamil Semeniuk.

It is certainly a pity that coach Kamil Nalepka’s team will not be able to play with Bartosz Bednorz and Aleksander Śliwka in the squad. The first of them suffered a serious injury at the end of the PlusLiga season. The second one appeared in PGE Projekt, as the so-called medical transfer for Bednorz, but the regulations do not allow Śliwka to take part in the Champions League final tournament in the colors of his new employer. However, this may be a breakthrough time for Bartosz Firszt. The receiver will probably form a duo with Kevin Tillie, precisely in the absence of Bednorz and Śliwka in the set of receivers.

It will also be interesting in the context of the second semi-final. The Polish champion from Zawiercie will want to advance to the Champions League final for the second time in a row. To achieve this, the team led by coach Michał Winiarski will have to deal with… Tomasz Fornal and his colleagues. On the other side of the net will be the winner of the triple crown in Turkey – Ziraat Bankkart Ankara.

The Zawiercie team, encouraged by winning the first gold medal in the club’s history in the PlusLiga, will probably want to follow suit. However, the Turkish giant probably has similar plans. This promises to be a real volleyball feast. Similarly to the entire weekend in Turin, where the 2025/26 club season will officially close.
