The iconic train will return to its beautiful route. She hasn’t been there since 2019
You had to forget about riding the narrow-gauge railway through the atmospheric countryside for many years. We already know when the iconic attraction will return.
The case concerns the revitalization of the “Ciuchci Ponidzie” route in the Świętokrzyskie region. The attraction is officially called Świętokrzyska Narrow Gauge Railway. We have already completed many stages of work during which the railway route has changed for the better. Tourists are waiting for the new section from Pińczów to Umianowice. Soon they will find something unusual there.
A new attraction on the “Ciuchci Ponidzie” route
Starting next holiday season, tourists will again be able to take a train ride through the Nida Valley and the Ponidzie area. The Pińczów-Umianowice route was reconstructed along with the station infrastructure, which will ensure comfort and safety for travelers.
Such a trip was last possible in 2019, so you had to wait over 7 years for the attraction. Despite revitalization works, the cable car will retain its historic character. The work that remains to be completed on this section has been described as “cosmetic” – this is how Mariusz Świercz from the Świętokrzyskie and Nadnidzia Landscape Parks assessed the situation.
The new section will be almost 9 km long and will complement the existing 20-kilometer Jędrzejów-Motkowice route. You will also be able to see the renovated station in Pińczów and the historic repair hall in Jędrzejów.
Tourists will gain much more
The return of “Ciuchcia Ponidzie” on this route is a great event, but it is already known that it will be even better in the future. Ultimately, a 30-kilometer Jędrzejów-Pińczów route is to be built. For this to happen, however, it is necessary to modernize the flyovers and the bridge on the Nida, the cost of which is estimated at PLN 20 million.
For now, the Pińczów-Umianowice section will continue to be used. During the trip in 2027, passengers will admire the entire Nida River valley, swamps, animal habitats and the Skowronno nature reserve. The train will be treated not only as a means of transport, but also as a way to discover local nature.
