Ran Takahashi is the new volleyball player of Bogdanka LUK Lublin. The 25-year-old Japanese moves to Poland from his homeland, from the Suntory Sunbirds club.
Thus, Bogdanka LUK Lublin sends a clear signal to the competition, declaring its readiness to fight for the highest goals. And not only in Poland, but also in the European cup arena.
Bringing in a Japanese volleyball star like Ran Takahashi only confirms this.
– Ran will definitely make our team more versatile. Its potential seems limitless. However, it is certain that with him on the court it will be easier to draw on the capabilities of other volleyball players, thanks to Rana’s phenomenal defensive play. We believe that adding a volleyball player of this caliber to the team allows us to set the most ambitious goals. Taking into account Ran’s popularity, we are also developing the Club’s international brand. We are convinced that our actions will attract the attention of many fans from Japan, said the president of Bogdanka LUK Lublin, Krzysztof Skubiszewski.

Takahashi is 25 years old. With the Japanese national team, he stood on the podium of the Nations League twice and won the Asian champion title, being the best receiver in the competition. Additionally, he also won silver in the World Cup. In Europe, he reached, among others, to the Italian runner-up and the Challenge Cup. In Japan, he won the national championship and the Emperor’s Cup.
So far, he has played for the academic teams of Nippon, Pallavolo Padwa, Mint Vero Volley Monza and Suntory Sunbirds.
In the ranks of Bogdanka LUK, Takahashi will have to deal with PlusLiga for the first time. The Polish competition is considered one of the best in the world. Bringing a star of this caliber will undoubtedly attract interest – especially from the Asian market.
Takahashi’s team members will include: Wilfredo Leon, also a great figure in the context of world volleyball. Bogdanka LUK will certainly be eager to regain the championship title after losing the crown in the 2025/26 campaign. The Lublin club was the Polish champion in the 2024/25 season.
