The head of KOWR is targeted after the CPK scandal. His fortune is impressive
The media does not let the dust settle after the CPK scandal. Journalists examined the asset declaration of the director general of KOWR. Earlier, the portal that publicized the purchase of the plot shared with the public new findings about Henryk Smolarz.
The scandal concerns the sale of a strategic plot of land for the construction of a railway line in the large-scale plan of the Central Communication Port. The case dates back to 2023 – at that time, Robert Telus (currently an MP from Law and Justice, although after the scandal was publicized, he was suspended as a party member) was the Minister of Agriculture. Piotr Wielgomas, vice-president of the Dawtona company (which specializes in fruit and vegetable products), received permission to purchase a property with an area of almost 160 hectares in Zabłotnia in Mazovia during the rule of the United Right. It was supposed to cost the businessman almost PLN 23 million.
Currently, the land is expected to be worth PLN 380 to 400 million. To make the sale possible, a decision was needed from the Polish Water Management Authority to change the classification of the watercourse – contrary to the data from the hydrological registers. Before the transaction was concluded, the meetings with Telus were attended by, among others, Andrzej Wielgomas – father of the businessman who eventually bought the plot.
On Monday (November 3), the Wirtualna Polska portal shared further findings regarding the scandal – this time it concerns a member of parliament from the Polish People’s Party and former president of the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund. The editors claim that after Smolarz was sent questions about the plot, he allegedly invited the creator of Dawtona to his office. Supposedly, they were talking about purchasing corn. The head of KOWR emphasizes that he learned about the CPK scandal from the media, but journalists found documents that show otherwise.
Asset declaration of the head of KOWR
On this occasion, the “Fakt” daily decided to analyze Smolarz’s declaration of assets. He entered over PLN 680,000 in savings in cash (a small percentage of the total amount is money in foreign currencies) and several real estate properties.
It has, among others: agricultural farm with an area of almost 60 ha – worth PLN 7 million. In addition, he owns four houses – two of 70 square meters each and another of 150 and 300 square meters. For the first ones, he entered 300,000. PLN, while the largest buildings, according to him, are worth PLN 500,000 and PLN 800,000 each. He is their co-owner.
In the document he mentioned, among others: two passenger cars (nearly 10 years old and over 15 years old), as well as agricultural machinery.
As the head of KOWR in 2024, he earned nearly PLN 390,000. PLN gross. The tar maker has a preferential loan to repay – it’s PLN 100,000. zloty. He allocated the amount for the development of agricultural activities. The former president of KRUS also informed that he lent PLN 220,000 to a third party. PLN (receivable).
