After four seasons, Robertlandy Simon parted ways with Gas Sales Blueenergy Piacenza. The Cuban has been a big star on the volleyball courts for many years.
Robertlandy Simon is a character who needs no special introduction to volleyball fans, actually all over the world. Even after all these years, the Cuban is still considered one of the best in his profession. It’s no wonder that the midfielder is still playing in the demanding Italian league.
Robertlandy Simon changes the club! Will the volleyball star come to Poland?
In his last season in the ranks of Gas Sales Blueenergy Piacenza, the player born in 1987 won a valuable trophy in the form of victory in the CEV Cup. The Cuban began his adventure with Piacenza in 2022. Previously, his club, also in Italy, was Cucine Lube Civitanova. In the ranks of this team, Simon won the most important trophy in club volleyball on the Old Continent, namely victory in the Champions League.
Where will Simon play in the 2026/27 season? Unfortunately, these will not be PlusLiga games. It’s a pity, because it seems that bringing such a player to Poland would be a really big boost – not only sporting, but also marketing. A man who remembers the times of playing for the Cuban national team with Wilfredo Leon, a colorful character, but above all – a great volleyball player. On the other hand, Simon’s choice seems quite natural considering his rich career.
In the 2026/27 season, the center will continue to play in the Italian league. This time, however, the choice fell on Allianz Milano. Interestingly, the team’s coach Robert Piazza is moving from Milan to PlusLiga. The Italian trainer will manage PGE Projekt Warszawa. Simon in the ranks of Allianz Milano should continue to be one of the leading players, both of the team itself and an important figure of the entire Italian league.
The Cuban’s successor in Piacenza will be Merrick McHenry. A center from the United States, who will turn 26 in October 2026. As you can see, in the case of Piacenza, it was decided to rejuvenate the center of the net a bit.
