Maciej Skorża interrupted silence after PZPN publicly put pressure on him to become a coach of the Polish national team. – At the moment I have other goals, other challenges – admitted Urawa trainer Red Diamonds.
Maciej Skorża stays with Red Diamonds in the USA at the World Club Championships. The Japanese team led by the Polish coach awaits the last match in the group, after which they lost two matches with the Argetic River Plate and FC Inter Milan. The Polish team is only waiting for the match with the Mexican CF Monterrey Rayados, which will be played on Thursday at 3.00 Polish time.
Skorża took part in an official press conference several hours before the match, where he answered journalists’ questions. One of them concerned reports from Polish media about the proposal to take the position of a coach of the Polish national team. The Pole was asked to comment on the situation. – It is true that I received an offer. The Polish Football Association made such a proposal – Skorża emphasized at the beginning.

– It would definitely be a great honor for me to become a coach of the national team, become the selector of the Polish national team. But at the moment I have different goals, other challenges. We are in the process of a very important tournament and just over the halfway point of the very important season of J.League. I want to focus on the best preparation of the team for tomorrow’s match in the tournament, as well as on the fight for the highest place in the second half of the Japanese league season – said the Polish coach.
– And I hope that I will have the opportunity to train the Polish national team again someday – summed up Skorża. In the past, Urawa Red Diamonds trainer was an assistant to Paweł Janas in the senior team and cooperated with him in the Polish Olympic national team. The decision of Skorży is a problem for the PZPN, after before the president of Cezary Kulesza and the Secretary General of the Union Łukasz Wachowski publicly admitted that the coach of the Japanese team is a favorite to embrace the staff.
