The government will not fulfill this promise. A clear declaration

Krzysztof Paszyk

The government is withdrawing from one of the key election promises of the Civic Coalition. Credit 0 percent there will be no, announces Minister Krzysztof Paszyk.

The 0% loan program, promised by the Civic Coalition as support for people planning to buy a flat, will ultimately not be introduced. During an interview on Radio Zet, Minister of Development Krzysztof Paszyk confirmed that this idea had become a thing of the past. – There will be no 0% loan. These were slogans from many months ago, he said.

Lack of unanimity in the government

The head of the Ministry of Development emphasized that Polish borrowers struggle with the highest interest rates on housing loans in the entire European Union. – We must find a solution that will actually help Poles – he added. At the same time, he denied speculations about alleged connections with the development industry, assuring that all decisions are made with the interests of citizens in mind.

0% loan program it aroused controversy in the ruling coalition from the very beginning. Already in the summer, Anna Maria Żukowska from the Left indicated that this solution would probably not be implemented. – I think this program will no longer exist. Instead, what remains is the housing program of the Left, which assumes the construction of cheap apartments for rent, she said.

Polska 2050 also expresses reluctance towards the program. Paweł Śliz, chairman of this party’s club, reminded that his party is opposed to all forms of subsidies for housing loans. – We think this is not a good idea – he noted in an interview with “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.

Work on new solutions

According to media reports from November, the Ministry of Development is working on a new housing support project. The program would start in 2025, but the details are still unknown. Minister Paszyk announced that the ministry is considering various scenarios to effectively support citizens in access to housing.

According to a study conducted by IBRiS on behalf of “Rzeczpospolita”, the idea of a 0 percent loan. was met with mixed reviews. 45.5 percent respondents rated it positively, and 36.7 percent negatively. The rest had no opinion on this matter. – Such results show that Poles are divided on the issue of credit support, which further complicates work on this type of programs – experts comment.
