The government moves with Megaprojekt. “Kaszubia” greater than CPK?
Work on Megaprojekt “Kaszubia” is starting in Pomerania. The investment is to have a greater economic impact than the Central Communication Port.
The Ministry of National Defense begins to implement a new megaproject with a strategic importance – the Green Industrial District “Kaszubia”. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announces that this investment will be crucial not only for Pomerania, but also for all of Poland. As the government representatives emphasize, “Kashubia” is to have a greater impact on the development of the country than previous infrastructure investments, such as the Central Communication Port.
Huge investment
A working team was appointed in the defense ministry responsible for developing the concept and detailed assumptions of the plan. The project involves the creation of an integrated investment system covering industry, energy and defense infrastructure. The whole is to absorb around PLN 250 billion in a dozen or so years.
The initiative assumes the creation of a hydrogen valley in Pomerania, Innovation Valley, Dronowa Valley and the Offshore competence center. These new centers are not only to support the development of modern technologies and renewable energy sources, but also strengthen the region’s defense potential. In this way, the project combines civil and military elements, creating a comprehensive development plan.
Impuls for development
The lack of large investment initiatives so far has been criticized at the current ruling coalition. According to PSL politicians, who is responsible for the project, “Kashubia” is to be a response to these allegations and become a showcase of the government of Donald Tusk. Although the plan is currently mainly involved in ministrys managed by people, the goal is to transform it into a government program of nationwide importance.
PSL politicians emphasize that the government’s actions to date did not respond to the expectations of voters and did not offer aspirational projects tailored to CPK. The Green Industrial District “Kaszubia” is to change and become an impulse for the economic, technological and infrastructure development of northern Poland.
