How does the government support those affected by the flood? Benefits, loan assistance and more

The government donated nearly PLN 4 billion to help flood victims, also offering support in repaying loans and rebuilding houses. Check what forms of help are available.

The government has launched a support program for people affected by the flood, having already transferred almost PLN 4 billion. The Ministry of the Interior and Administration announced that PLN 3 billion and 915 million were paid in benefits to the injured. Additionally, people whose apartments or houses were flooded can apply for support in repaying mortgage loans.

Government support for flood victims

In a message published on X (formerly Twitter), the ministry confirmed that further funds are being systematically disbursed.

Everyone affected by the flood can count on PLN 10,000 in non-repayable aid, which is divided into two parts – PLN 8,000 from social assistance and PLN 2,000 from flood benefits. These funds can be used, among others, for: for basic needs such as cleaning after flooding, purchasing medicines, food, clothes and household appliances. To apply for support, you must contact the commune office or social welfare center within 30 days of the event.

The government also offers financial assistance to repair and rebuild water-damaged property. Victims can receive up to PLN 100,000 for the renovation or reconstruction of farm buildings, and up to PLN 200,000 for the renovation or reconstruction of residential buildings.

People who repay mortgage loans and whose properties have been flooded and are temporarily uninhabitable can benefit from the help of the Borrower Support Fund. This program covers the repayment of loan installments for a period of 12 months, regardless of the installment amount, and this assistance is non-refundable.

Support for entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs whose business was affected by the flood can benefit from relief in payments to the Social Insurance Institution, as well as payment of taxes in installments, cancellation of tax arrears or deferment of payment deadlines. Applications can be submitted to tax offices, via the biznes.gov.pl portal or at the e-Tax Office.
