On Thursday, several arrivals to Warsaw were redirected to the airport in Radom. An impressive Boeing 777 was among the aircraft landing planes at the airport.

The renovation of one of the starting lanes at Chopin Airport changed slightly the plans of passengers returning from holiday countries – some of the operations were transferred to the airport in Radom. This was the case on Thursday, September 25.

Flights redirected to Radom

“A unique attraction for aviation enthusiasts will be the arrival of Boeing 777 MGA Airlines – this is the first visit of such a large aircraft in the history of the Radom airport!” – You can read on his unofficial fanpage. “This is an important signal that Radom is able to take over a part of the movement in situations requiring relieving the largest port in the country – this is exactly the function from the beginning,” commented the authors of the entry.

The airport in Radom posted a landing film. “Welcome to the first in the short history of our Boeing 777 airport – the largest two -engine passenger aircraft that is currently used in the world!” – Added.

Renovation of the start road No. 1 (at Ursynów – Ursus) at Chopin Airport is expected to last until October 25. “Important information for passengers – closing one runway should not affect the punctuality of flights,” it was informed.

Declines in August

In August this year 17,352 passengers were celebrated by the Warsaw-Radom airport. Compared to the same month in 2024, however, a decrease in the number of travelers was recorded by 17.5 percent. In total, 232 commercial operations were performed during the analyzed period, of which almost half was carried out by LOT Polish Airlines.

From the beginning of June to the end of the holiday, 48,611 travelers took advantage of the airport offer.

The starting road at the airport in Radom is available for air operations along its entire length without restrictions, from September 4. For several days, the traffic was suspended after the F-16 plane crash, in which Major Maciej Kraków was tragically killed
