The Germans’ concert at the opening of Euro 2024. The Scots were helpless!
At the beginning of Euro 2024, we watched a one-sided duel. The Germans performed brilliantly and defeated Scotland 5:1!
Although the last major events did not go the way the Germans wanted, local fans are now counting on success. Julian Nagelsmann changed this team, and at the same time Euro 2024 is taking place in our western neighbors. The inauguration was a success for them.
Germany – Scotland. The hosts started the concert quickly
From the very beginning, Nagelsmann’s players pressed against the Scots. Florian Wirtz opened the scoring in the 10th minute. After a successful action, the player who usually plays for Bayer Leverkusen received a pass on the 16th meter from Joshua Kimmich and hit the ball technically. The Scots goalkeeper touched the ball and it bounced off the post and into the goal. The Germans never ceased to amaze. They played quickly and precisely, which resulted in the second goal.
In the 19th minute, Kai Havertz received the ball on the left side. He had two players from the opposing team with him, but he kept his cool and returned the ball to Jamal Musiala. He, in turn, deceived one of the Scots and hit it hard under the crossbar. Five minutes later, referee Clement Turpin originally awarded a penalty kick to the hosts, but later, after a VAR analysis, it turned out that Musiala had been fouled before the sixteenth minute.
What is delayed is not lost. At the end of the first half, Ryan Porteous brutally fouled Ilkay Gundogan. In this case, the referee did not indicate a penalty at the beginning, but one replay was enough for him to decide on a penalty kick. In addition, Porteous was sent off. Kai Havertz converted the “eleven” into a goal. The players went to the locker room with the score 3-0 for the German national team.
Fun for the Germans and a moment of joy for the Scots
The Scots, knowing that they were playing with ten players, could no longer threaten the German players. Julian Nagelsmann, on the other hand, introduced freshness into the game and spared his most important players. Even before leaving the field, Wirtz had a great opportunity, but he shot just barely over the crossbar.
In the 68th minute, substitute Niclas Fullkrug defeated the rivals’ goalkeeper with a great aerial shot and the score was 4-0. Shortly earlier, the striker of the German national team reported on the pitch. He later scored a goal again, but the referees found it offside right after the end of the action.
At the end of the match, the Scots unexpectedly had their moment of joy. Andy Robertson crossed from the left side from a set piece. The ball unluckily bounced off Antoni Rudiger and fell into the net. It is worth adding that the Germans’ opponents had not scored a single shot before. After this incident, the numerous Scottish fans gathered at the stadium became animated. In the last actions, the hosts played inspired again and Emre Can scored a goal with a shot from outside the penalty area. Soon the referee whistled the end of the match, and Nagelsmann’s players won 5:1!
