Increasing the tax -free amount from the existing 30,000 PLN up to 60 thousand PLN was one of the most important pre -election promises of the Civic Coalition. The Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański was asked about its implementation in the “signals of the day”. – Of course, this demand for increasing the free amount will be realized. This plan, he is of course a complex plan, will be presented earlier to the Prime Minister – said the head of the Ministry of Finance.

Increase in tax -free amount still in this term?

In one of the previous interviews, Domański announced that the increase in tax -free amount would take place by the end of the current parliamentary term, i.e. by 2027.

In an interview with “Signals of the Day”, the Minister of Finance also announced that there are no plans to increase tax thresholds for now. When asked if this was related to the situation in public finances, Domański replied that she was good.

We have high economic growth dynamics, one of the highest in the European Union. We also plan to maintain high dynamics in the following years. On Tuesday at the Council of Ministers I presented many years of macroeconomic assumptions. We forecast that this year the growth rate of our economy will be 3.7 percent, and next year it will only slightly slow down to 3.5 percent. So it will still be high dynamics – The head of the Ministry of Finance said in the broadcast.

Poles disappointed

The SW Research survey conducted a year ago for “Wprost” shows that just raising a tax -free amount to 60,000. PLN was the unrealized promise of the Civic Coalition, which Poles regret the most (38 percent of indications, the next places included legal abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy and changes in the so -called Belka tax – 22.7 percent and 21.6 percent respectively).

The current tax -free amount is 30 thousand. PLN and is the result of Polish order. People who earn this amount do not pay PIT at all. Earnings above 30 thousand PLN and to a level of 120 thousand PLN (tax threshold) are taxed at a rate of 12 percent. However, the surplus of income above the above -mentioned 120 thousand PLN is covered by 32 % tax.
