The former coach of the Polish national team returns to the Ekstraklasa? He had a long break
Since October 2022, coach Jerzy Brzęczek has not appeared in an official match as a coach. It is possible that the former coach will return to work this winter.
Let us remind you that Jerzy Brzęczek is a former coach of the Polish national team, where he worked in 2018-21. He was appointed to this position by the then president of the Polish Football Association, Zbigniew Boniek. The same “Zibi” decided to release Brzęczek before Euro 2020, played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then the national team was taken over by Portuguese Paulo Sousa.

The former coach returned to coaching in 2022, helping Jakub Błaszczykowski save Wisła Kraków from relegation. However, this attempt failed, Biała Gwiazda said goodbye to Ekstraklasa, and Brzęczek finally ended his cooperation with the Krakow club in October 2022. Since then, he has appeared mainly as an expert in television studios, among others. TVP Sport, Channel Sportowy or Canal+ Sport. However, it is possible that Brzęczek will return to the coaching carousel!
This news is reported by Sport.pl, citing local sources (i.e. Rafał Jonczyk’s podcast “Pod Gołębnik”. Brzęczek is apparently one of the main candidates to take over as Radomiak’s coach. The club from Radom currently has one more match ahead of it, closing the top league competition in 2024. It will be a weekend away clash with Śląsk Wrocław, which is closing the table – plunged into a deep crisis, current runner-up of the country.
However, it is possible that coach Bruno Baltazar, the current manager of the team from Radom, will resign from his job in the winter anyway, regardless of the result achieved at the Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław. In such a system, Brzęczek would have the opportunity to work with the team on winter preparations and fight for a better position in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table in the second part of the season.
If the former national team coach actually took up the job in Radom, he would certainly face a big challenge. Even though a lot of time has passed, fans remember Brzęczek’s last performance in the national elite. Wisła Kraków’s relegation to the lower league, well, Biała Gwiazda still cannot turn the page and regain the title of a team playing in the top league.
