The former club did not leave the world champion in need. They are helping him get back into shape

Piotr Nowakowski has left Projekt Warszawa after years of playing. The recovering center can count on the support of one of his previous clubs.

Piotr Nowakowski has been one of the top middle blockers not only in Poland but also in the world for years. The player from Żyrardów has been celebrating triumphs with the Polish national team for years, becoming a two-time world champion, among others. Additionally, he often returned from events with individual awards for the best blocker.

The world champion made a guest appearance on his former team

The 205-centimetre tall player did not play in the PlusLiga last season due to injury. He supported Projekt Warszawa from behind the boards, along with Śrećko Lisinac. After the end of the season, the two parties parted ways. Nowakowski himself admitted that he was not yet in such physical condition to commit to a new team.

The player is recovering, while the clubs are slowly starting preparations for the season. Of course, there are no national team players in the squads, but some clubs have started training early. Trefl Gdańsk is one of them, and after finishing sixth last season, they are hungry for more.

The Pomeranian team surprised with a gesture. They reported on social media that Nowakowski, as well as Dawid Pawlun (who will spend the upcoming season in the Belgian league), are guest training with the team. Both were associated with the Gdańsk team in the past, so they know the entire organization well. There was no shortage of kind words for them in the comments under the post.

Piotr Nowakowski’s career

Piotr Nowakowski made his debut in adult volleyball in the colors of Legia Warsaw. He also played in AZS Częstochowa, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and the aforementioned Trefl and Projekt. In turn, with the Polish national team, he won the world championship twice, and also enjoyed the European championship and triumph in the World League.
