Jacek Bąk played for the Polish national team in the years 1993-2008. In total, the defender played 96 matches for the senior national team, scoring 3 goals. The former captain of the Polish national team is famous for not avoiding strong, honest opinions expressed in the media. This time, Bąk commented on the competition during the 2026 World Championships. Strong words were expressed in Eurosport.

– The biggest problem of this championship are the referees and they are the most talked about. What they are doing is a massacre. These are football balls, not the World Cup. There is VAR, sensors in the balls, and I have the impression that all this is only to direct the match so that it ends with the right result. This is football murder. One big scam. I used to be unable to sleep after watching a match because of sports emotions, and now I can’t sleep because I’m shaking because of the referees – said the former captain of the Polish national team.

From June 11 to July 19, the 23rd FIFA World Cup will be held on pitches in three countries – the United States, Mexico and Canada. An event that will certainly be unique, if only because of its format. For the first time in history, as many as 48 teams took part in the main tournament.

The Polish national team was third twice at the World Championships, but those were the old days – we are talking about the events in 1974 and 1982. At the last World Cup, Poles managed to advance to the knockout phase, but were eliminated in the 1/8 finals by the French (1:3).
