The fisherman set a new record. This is how much the fish weighed

A talented angler caught a huge fish from the bass family (Centrarchidae). A new record was set – an additional 85 grams was enough!

Chris Mulcahey – a resident of Waterville (Kennebec County) – went to Big Stone Lake. He relaxed with a fishing rod in his hand, not even dreaming of setting a new record. And although he was not expecting great emotions, fate wanted it differently – at one point a real giant grabbed the bait on the hook.

It was, as it later turned out, a giant blue bass (Lepomis macrochirus).

A new record was broken. The fishing community is buzzing!

The fishing enthusiast caught a bass in May this year. Only now, however – over a month later – did the Maine Department of Fish and Game officially confirm that the specimen was a record one (heavier than the previous one by almost three ounces).

How much did he weigh? Exactly two pounds (or about 910 grams). It is also known that it was 11.75 inches long (or approximately 29.8 centimeters) – reported the editorial office of the foreign portal Valley News Live.

These are records that anglers haven’t broken for decades

Recently AOL (America Online) published a list of “unbreakable” records. Anglers try as hard as they can, but they are still unable to catch larger fish.

Here are some of them (instructions – from the left, the name of the fish, then its weight, the person who pulled the specimen out of the water, the date of catch and place):

  • Striped bass (inland) – Striped bass (Morone saxatilis) – 53 lb 12 oz (24.38 kg) – Robert Price (Huntingdon) – 1994 – Raystown Lake.

  • Striped bass (marine) – Striped bass (Morone saxatilis) – 53 lb 13 oz (24.41 kg) – Donald J. Clark (Boothwyn) – 1989 – Delaware River, Delaware County.

  • White bass (Morone chrysops) – 4 lb (1.81 kg) – Robert H. Hornstrom (Meadville) – 2002 – Conneaut Lake, Crawford County.

  • Bluegill – Blue Sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) – 2 lb 9 oz (1.16 kg) – Tom Twincheck (Blairsville) – 1983 – Keystone Lake, Armstrong County.
