The fans were furious. The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection will deal with the case

Smart TV

An avalanche of criticism fell on Play after customers were unable to play Champions League matches. It is true that the Canal+ package is available, but still without Extra channels. The case is already being investigated by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

From the 2024/25 season, the Champions League, after a break of several years, returned to Canal+. The change was welcomed by fans who had been complaining about the then broadcaster, Polsat, in recent years. Polsat received the most criticism for its pointless cooking corner during the pre-match studio. Fans eager for professional football analysis watched people cooking on the screen before matches of prestigious competitions. There were also many reservations about the match commentary. The gameplay is top-notch and the commentary is mediocre at best. Therefore, the “transfer” of LM to C+ was received with optimism. Most football fans in Poland are happy. However, Play customers are not in this group.

Champions League in Play. There are problems

The case is already being investigated by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. – We received one signal on P4 regarding such misleading. The consumer reported that when signing a new contract, he received information that his package would include channels broadcasting the Champions League – said Kamila Guzowska from the Communication Department of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in an interview with virtualmedia.pl.

– I was furious when it turned out that in the previous round of the Champions League I had to look for illegal streams. After all, I pay them for the Canal Plus package every month – said Igor, an AC Milan fan, in an interview with wprost.pl.

Wirtualnemedia.pl, in turn, selected two comments on the Play profile on Facebook, which also strongly reflect the mood of frustrated Polish football fans. Play customers are still asking when negotiations with C+ will end and all Champions League channels will be available. So far, no agreement has been reached.

“We came to you for the Champions League. The consultants assured several times that the games would be available. No service provider has fooled us like you. Thank you. Never again”

“When will the Champions League be available in your offer? The second round is coming soon.”

Play limited itself to a laconic message, namely: “We will inform you when it is available.”
