The famous Greek island rises from the crisis. “We are constantly monitoring the situation”

The first tourists returned to Santorini after a series of earthquakes. ITAKA travel agency reveals whether this direction is still safe for Poles.
Will this vacation at Santorini be calm? The Greek government announced that the island is again safe for visitors. After a series of earthquakes, which at the beginning of February hit the tourist pearl of Greece, cruise ships returned to the port with the first tourists. There were mainly Americans on board, but soon Santorini will also visit Poles. ITAKA travel agency, which offers optional trips to the island, ensures that the situation is stable. The tour operator also reveals whether the crisis had an impact on customer interest.
Santorini is preparing for the summer
Still in February, the situation on Santorini seemed dramatic. Hundreds of tourists and residents came to the Port of Athinios every day, who tried to leave the Greek island as soon as possible in fear of a powerful earthquake. A series of shocks with the strength of up to five degrees on the Richter scale, which lasted continuously for several weeks, finally ended.
The Greek government announced that the island is already safe, but not all foreign guests seem to trust these announcements. “People abstain from buying attractions at Santorini, such as sightseeing, wines or cruises,” said CNN Petros Zissimos, managing director of the Hellenic Holidays office in New York. Weakening interest can be seen especially in the case of April and May, i.e. the first two months of the summer season.
Markos Chaidemenos, a co -owner of the Canaves Collection hotel chain, however, believes that every day you can see the growing optimism about a successful holiday on the Santorini rising from the crisis. He added that some hotels and tourism organizers allow the cancellation of the reservation, and in some places in the event of a re -attack of the element, it is possible to refund even for non -returnable reservations.
The first tourists have already returned
According to Greek, the reporter, on Sunday, the first cruise ship this season moored on Santorini. There were 1170 tourists on board, mainly from the United States. Scientists gave the Government Green Light to open the island to tourism. According to their announcements, in the near future Santorini is not threatened by either earthquake or an explosion of an underwater volcano, and because of recent events the island is monitored like never before.
Infrastructure is also safe. “Inspections of public buildings on the island have confirmed that they withstanded shocks and can be re -opened,” writes the Greek portal. What’s more, according to the president of Cruise Association, reservations at 2025 even indicate an increase in passenger and cruise movement by at least 10 percent. “A total of 35 cruise ships are expected in April,” reads.
Itaka comments
What is the situation from the perspective of a Polish tourist? Trips to Santorini this season will take place without difficulties. Holidays with accommodation on this island can be purchased, among others at the Rainbow travel agency. Many tour operators also offer short optional trips.
-For the most part, this is 1-day tourism: Santorini is the target of optional trips both during rest on other Greek islands and optional trips organized by cruise shipowners when the ship wrapped the ship to the island. The ITAKA offer includes both optional trips, whose supplier is the Seeplaces platform, as well as cruise cruises wrapping on Santorini – explains for “Wprost” Ewa Maruszak from the ITAKA press office.
The largest travel agency in Poland sees no reason for concern. – Currently, we do not note the decrease in interest in visiting the island, the more that now the situation on Santorini is stable, and cruise ships have resumed wrapping to the island. Of course, we constantly monitor the situation on Santorini, having prepared solutions in the event of any difficulties for tourists – reports the representative of Itaka.
