The famous coach couldn’t stand the realities of Polish football. “This is sick”

Tomasz Tułacz

Puszcza Niepołomice is a very colorful place on the map of Polish football. The team’s coach, Tomasz Tułacz, just gave another important argument with his “speech”.

When writing about the Forest in the context of a “colorful place”, there is no exaggeration, irony or mockery in this term. In Niepołomice, they have been working regularly for several seasons to be a respectable player for the club – and in the context of playing at a high level.

Puszcza beat ŁKS Łódź on Monday (May 18) afternoon, getting closer to the play-off zone in the Betclic 1st League. The club from Niepołomice played on the PKO BP Ekstraklasa pitches last season. Now it has survived the crisis at the back of the best league in the country and is once again causing fear among wealthier opponents.

Tomasz Tułacz about the realities of Polish football. He speaks directly about madness

However, the sports result was not the most interesting topic that Puszcza’s coach raised during the press conference after the win over ŁKS (1-0). Tomasz Tułacz took up the topic of footballers’ earnings at the first league level.

– Let me tell you that the football world in Poland has gone crazy. I’ll say something unpopular and I’ll probably be a black sheep, but players at the First League level are overpaid. Paying players at this level this much money is crazy (…) Today, a young person from the 1st league or Ekstraklasa goes to high school and earns four or five times more than the teacher who examines him. This is sick and should be considered. But I won’t bother Wisła with a stick, I’m not Don Quixote. I’m just telling it like it is. I even wonder whether managers are not ashamed to offer such conditions for players who are not even basic players in their clubs. Sometimes I fall off my stool when I hear what the players’ expectations are – admitted Tułacz.

On the one hand, the profession of a footballer is actually a dozen or so years of playing, from which you should make the most of it, also in financial terms. On the other hand, the reality may actually be surprising, considering the level of wages – compared to the sports level presented in Poland.

Overpaid domestic players are not a good investment option for clubs like Puszcza, which is unfavorable for the development of Polish players. Importing foreign players then becomes a necessity, and there are simply no places for future, contractual… Lewandowskis or Zielińskis. It often turns out that they want to earn money that is completely inadequate to their sports level. And the choice then falls on the “savings option”, i.e., for example, a foreign player.
