The fairytale park with a maze is an underrated attraction. You can find this gem away from the crowds

An unusual attraction in an iconic city makes an impression. Photos from a visit to the unique place were posted on TikTok by a famous traveler. “It’s worth dropping by, even for an hour and just chilling out,” he commented.

@kajetanoo, who runs his profile on Instagram and TikTok, informed us about a little-known and underrated spot. He is followed by over 47,000 people on a daily basis, interested in traveling, among other things. Some time ago, the man boasted about his visit to the Portuguese city of Porto. He discovered a charming place hidden among the bushes. We are talking about São Roque Park.

Underrated attraction in Porto

São Roque is definitely a less popular attraction in Porto, which allows you to relax in peace and quiet, away from the crowds. Inside, you will find a huge green labyrinth of Buxus sempervirens, where you can intentionally get lost and wander for hours. The park is located not far from the city center, making it easy to get to.

Visitors can enjoy an atmospheric fountain, benches and wonderful views from above. You can also easily smell the eucalyptus and admire the tall trees of this species. All this makes it truly romantic. Today, you can walk there on an area of about 4 hectares. Impressive features include fashionable hedges and bonfires. In addition, you can see sculptural elements and a chapel in Largo Actor Dias. Since the academic year 2002/2003, it has also housed the Ecological Education Centre.

It is worth adding that this place has a very interesting history – it was purchased from the Calém family by the Porto City Council in 1979. After all, it was opened to visitors.

This park is easy to find

The easiest way to get to São Roque Park is by metro. @kajetaneo recommends going to the FC Porto stadium station and walking from there for about 10 minutes to the venue. “It’s really magical and peaceful here,” the traveler comments. From the photos posted online, it looks like there weren’t many people there.

If you want to get to the park, you can set off on a slightly over two-kilometer loop trail. The trail is considered easy and takes an average of 38 minutes to complete. It can be used regardless of the season, and pets such as dogs are welcome.

The venue is open at different times depending on the season. From October 1st to March 30th from 09:00 to 18:00, and from April 1st to September 30th from 09:00 to 19:00. Would you like to be there?
