The European defense industry is growing in strength. New orders, billions of euros to armament and growing production capacity change the system of power on the market.

The European arms sector enters a period of dynamic development. States of the Old Continent are increasingly focusing on equipment produced in Europe, and funds allocated to the purchase of weapons are growing. Further investments and increasing production capacity make European companies become an increasingly serious competitor for American giants.

European arms

One example is Denmark that decided to buy a Samp-T defense system for over PLN 30 billion. This is the product of the Eurosam consortium, created by the French Thales and the Italian MBDA. The system, which is an alternative to an American patriot, was initially used only by producers – France and Italy – and then went to Singapore and Ukraine, where after modifications he gained good opinions. Copenhagen’s decision is proof of the growing role of European producers in supplying weapons.

EU institutions are also influenced by the development of European arms. The Safe instrument allows member states to borrow EUR 150 billion for arms purchases, provided that at least 65 percent The value of contracts will fall to European companies. This means that over EUR 100 billion from this fund will support the EU producers instead of feeding Lockheed Martin, Boeing or RTX cash register.

Expenses are growing

National expenditure also increases. In 2026, Poland will allocate over PLN 200 billion to defense (4.8 percent of GDP), and Sweden will increase the military budget by over PLN 10 billion, to 2.8 percent. GDP. A large part of these funds will go to European concerns.

Companies increase production capacity to meet new orders. BAE Systems invests $ 300 million in the production of CV-90 combat vehicles, which is expected to increase five times by 2026-to 250 pieces a year. German Rheinmetall is developing plants in Germany, Hungary and Romania. In Unterlüss from 2027 it will produce up to 350 thousand. Ammunition pieces 155 mm per year.

The so -called New Defense, including technological start-ups. However, as emphasized by Piotr Wojciechowski, president of the WB Group, the real strength of industry lies in production capacity, staff and experience, and not only in market valuations.

Poland also strengthens its abilities. The Polish Armaments Group launches serial production of Borsuk combat vehicles and is preparing to increase the production of 155 mm ammunition, which is to bring results in 2028. The WB Group develops lines related to the production of drones. This is proof that the native arms is also part of the European Trend Trend.
