The European Championships will take place in Poland! Big party granted
The European Athletics Championships will take place in Poland! In 2028, the host country will be the national athletics stadium Superauto.pl Stadion Śląski in Chorzów.
The information was provided on Friday (i.e. April 24) noon. This is the first European Championship athletics event that Poland will host.
– Never before in history has Poland hosted the most important stadium athletics event on the Old Continent. Today’s decision by the European federation is therefore historic. We are starting a unique project, a flagship for Polish athletics in the coming months and years. Together with our partners, i.e. the local government of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, we will take all steps to ensure that this event is not only an organizational success, but also a sports success – said Sebastian Chmara, the president of the Polish Athletics Association.
According to the international athletics calendar, the competition at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium will take place between June 3 and 8, 2028.

The Silesian Voivodeship, which will host the European Championships, is also a region very experienced in organizing large sports events – not only athletics – with the Diamond League at the forefront. We can also mention basketball and volleyball events, as well as the presence of the Polish football team.
Superauto.pl’s rival for the Silesian Stadium to host the championship was Belgrade. Ultimately, however, the Polish candidacy was put forward, trusting that the organization – for which our country is famous in the context of sports events – will once again be at the highest possible level.
– The Silesian Stadium is a special place for me. I have dozens of memories from it. A great place to start, the atmosphere in the stands is always amazing. The news that the European Championships will be held there in two years is exciting. It’s also special for me, because I come from Silesia. This will certainly be a great celebration of athletics. I am convinced that the entire audience will see an impressive competition during which world-class results will be announced. The proximity of the Games in Los Angeles will make many athletes want to show their best side in June. Of course, this includes the Polish representatives – admitted Justyna Święta-Ersetic, one of the best athletes in recent years.
The next edition of the European championship will be held from August 10 to 16, 2026 in Birmingham.
