The construction of the Tri -City metropolitan beltway is coming to an end. Drivers in Pomerania will breathe a sigh of relief.
The Metropolitan beltway of the Tri -City, whose commissioning is scheduled for September 15, 2025, will be more expensive by a total of PLN 336 million. The reasons for the increase in costs are, among others The effects of Russian aggression on Ukraine and an unforeseen find in the form of an illegal landfill, which was detected on the construction site.
Increase in the construction of the construction of the Tri -City beltway
The Metropolitan beltway of the Tri -City, whose commissioning is scheduled for September 15, 2025, will be more expensive by a total of PLN 336 million. Two episodes, higher costs
Agreements for the implementation of the two main sections – Chwaszczyno – Żukowo and Żukowo -Gdańsk Południe – signed in 2021. The initial estimated costs were PLN 716 million and PLN 827 million, respectively. It is now known that the actual value of contracts has increased to PLN 882 million and almost PLN 1 billion. The total length of the route is about 32 kilometers.
Indexation of contracts already approved
The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has signed annexes valorizing contracts with the contractors. In the case of the Chwaszczyno -JUKO section, the amount increased by PLN 166 million, of which PLN 107 million is a contractual valorisation – 15 percent. the value of the original contract. The second episode, Żukowo -Gdańsk Południe, increased the cost of implementation to almost PLN 1 billion. Increases are related to unpredictable economic and logistics factors.
Key elements of the investment
The project will be created: the Żukowo -Gdańsk Południe route, Żukowa beltway, Żukowo and Lublewo road junctions, as well as an extensive Gdańsk Południe junction, connecting existing S6 and S7 expressways. The construction of the Widlino travelers (cat. I) travelers is also planned. The new route will connect the national road No. 7 in Friendship with national road No. 20 in Glincz, which will improve traffic fluidity and shorten the travel time in the region.
