The drone attack was combined with a great disinformation campaign. Four main goals

W lubelskiej Czosnówce spadł dron

On the night of September 9-10, the Polish airspace was violated by Russian drones. The network monitoring experts noticed that the media disinformation campaign began at the same time.

The European Analytical Collective Res Futura Data House has published its analysis of the situation in the Polish infoster on 10 September after a night attack of drones. “The attack of Russian drones immediately launched an organized disinformation campaign in Polish social media. Its purpose was to break up social cohesion, escalate emotions and challenge trust in the state and NATO,” we read.

Dominant narratives in the Polish and Russian network

Analysts mentioned the five most popular narratives:

  • “This is a provocation of Ukraine” – 32% of comments saturation

  • “Russia is testing NATO” – 28%

  • “The government is inept” – 18%

  • “Media manipulates” – 12%

  • “NATO will not defend us” – 10%

They emphasized that in emotional entries fear, anger, contempt, disbelief and sarcasm dominated. As a result, “the information space in Poland has been polarized, full of contradictory versions, hostile comments and emotional accusations.” It was noted that there was no dominant, reliable state narrative.

The same group also analyzed the Russian infosfer. A coordinated information operation against Poland and NATO was conducted in the social media there. Ukraine’s position was also undermined, shifting the aggressor to sacrifice.

The top 5 narratives included:

  • “Polish PVO is fiction” – 21% of comments saturation

  • “This is a Ukrainian provocation” – 17%

  • “NATO is looking for an excuse for escalation” – 14%

  • “Poles do not know what they are doing” – 11%

  • “Russia is testing NATO – and nobody reacts” – 9%

Analysts emphasized that similar incidents will be repeated, and their ultimate goal is not a military victory, but to break the society from the inside.

Minister Siemoniak about disinformation

The minister coordinator of special services Tomasz Siemoniak also wrote about Russian disinformation. “With the attack of Russian drones, a huge disinformation campaign has started. Slandering Poland, our alliances, the Polish army, undermining the credibility of the Polish state. I warn against joining the Putin network of lies in Putin’s network. The services act” – he assured.
