A school group from Karpacz went to Egypt a few days ago. The father of one of the students spoke on this matter.

Young people from the Lower Silesian School Complex in Karpacz went on a trip to Egypt after the conflict in the Middle East began. As the director of the facility explained, there were no reasons to cancel the trip of the 30-person group. “There is no real threat to the students. I called, among others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and each of the parents, asking about this trip,” declared Bogusława Kozłowska.

Now the father of one of the students spoke on the matter in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza.

The director agreed to the trip, but one person protested

On February 28, Israeli and US forces began airstrikes against targets in Iran. Tehran responded with a missile strike targeting Israel and American military facilities located in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. Although Egypt has since remained outside the conflict zone, concerns are growing about what the situation will look like in the coming days and weeks.

Despite the outbreak of war in the Middle East, a school trip from Lower Silesia went to Egypt. This is a group of 30 people with guardians from the Lower Silesian School Complex in Karpacz. “I called, among others, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and each of the parents, asking about this trip. No one, except one gentleman, raised any doubts about this trip to me,” said the school’s principal in the first days of March.

The student’s father has reservations

As Gazeta Wyborcza writes, Mr. Tomasz’s daughter, who lives with her mother, was also on the plane to Egypt. From the very beginning of the trip plans, the man expressed reservations about the direction and price of the trip, but he finally agreed to the student’s departure. Concern returned as explosions began across the Middle East. “I corresponded and talked to the director about this matter. She said that she called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that they had absolutely no concerns about the trip. However, she could not say who she talked to,” he says for Gazeta Wyborcza. “I don’t understand this decision. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns that the situation there is absolutely unpredictable,” he adds. The man says he called the ministry from school on the day the children were leaving, in the presence of the principal.

According to him, the Ministry’s response clearly suggested not to go to Egypt. Meanwhile, Maciej Wiewiór, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reassures us. “I would like to ask you not to spread panic among people who want to rest normally. Because in many places you can still go normally, rest and come back,” he said on Thursday during a briefing for journalists.
