The direct train to the spa is back. Tickets for less than PLN 12
On December 14, direct trains to Ciechocinek will return to the tracks. From Toruń we can get to the famous health resort in half an hour.
The return of trains to old routes is good news for residents of Polish regions and tourists. In the summer, we learned that Polregio won the tender to operate connections on the Bydgoszcz-Toruń-Otańczyn-Ciechocinek route. Trains to the famous health resort will arrive after a 14-year break – for now from Aleksandrów Kujawski and Toruń. Direct courses from Bydgoszcz are the plan for 2026.
Trains to Ciechocinek are returning
The return of this connection is due to the modernization of railway line 245 (Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek). The works are nearing completion, and on December 14, passengers will arrive almost straight to the famous brine graduation towers. In December, they will use the temporary station until the historic building is renovated.
As part of the investment, 8 rail-road crossings were renovated and platforms in Ciechocinek, Odolion and Aleksandrów Kujawski were modernized.
Cheap train tickets
For a ride on the Aleksandrów Kujawski-Ciechocinek route, people over 65 years of age will pay only PLN 4, and in the first two months of operation, all passengers will only pay a symbolic zloty. Polregio also announces cheap transport from Toruń Główny to Ciechocinek, only PLN 11.80. The journey from Aleksandrów Kujawski to Ciechocinek will take 10 minutes, and from Toruń to the spa – half an hour.
“This is a very important project that serves not only the development of the health resort. I am glad that it will make it easier for residents to commute to work and school every day. We have adjusted the timetable to make it suitable for people using public transport,” noted Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The mayor of Ciechocinek, Jarosław Jucewicz, also spoke about the advantages of the investment.
“The popularity of Ciechocinek means that the city is packed with cars during the holiday season. The number of them is constantly increasing. We are looking for an alternative means of transport and a connection with Toruń and Włocławek. On the other hand, we have patients and patients here, i.e. people over sixty years of age. The railway as a fast means of public transport is more convenient for them,” he said in an interview with kujawy-pomorze.info.
