From the defeat 1: 3, Lech Poznań began the two -round round of the Champions League elimination. Serbian Crvena Zvezda Belgrade triumphed in the capital of Greater Poland.

It is worth recalling that for the participation of the Polish team in the group stage (currently the league) Champions League fans have been waiting since the 2016/17 season. Lech Poznań’s defeat 1: 3 in his area with Crvena Zvezda is not an optimistic accent in the context of the rematch in Belgrade. It seems that you will have to wait for promotion at least until 2026.

Polish champions lost to Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. End of dreams about the elite?

However, it must be admitted that Lech did not play a bad match against the rival from Serbia. Crvena Zvezda objectively speaking was and is the favorite of the two -legged one in the third round of the elimination. Serbian legend spends a lot of money, it also has the experience of playing in European cups. Poznanians, however, have their ambitions, so it seemed that in their area, the hosts could grate their nose to visitors.

Unfortunately, the 1: 3 result means that the rematch matter is growing to the rank of mission almost impossible to implement. As for the match itself, the initial 20 minutes definitely for guests. After Lech mastered his nerves, he managed not only to go to a more even fight, but also to answer Golem. And it’s beautiful, as befits a captain. Mikael Ishak once again showed how class the attacker he is and how much it means to Kolejorz.

And when it seemed that Poznanians for the second 45 minutes came out with a completely new, better attitude, they got a blow after a permanent fragment of the game after less than ten minutes from the whistle, and then a goal at 1: 3, after losing around the penalty area. Although the hosts still tried to reduce the size of the defeat, this art was failed to Lech.

Rematch in the hot terrain in Belgrade in the week of August 12. Beginning at 21:00.

Lech Poznań six attempts. Difficult Polish road to the UEFA Champions League

The two -lever with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in the third round of the Champions League elimination is another, sixth attempt to cross the gates of the most prestigious games from the UEFA stable.

Kolejorz, looking at the history of the existence of the Champions League (i.e. from the 1992/93 season), for the first time stood up to the elimination struggle in the premiere edition, after changing the name from the European Cup of Club Champions (1956-92).

The first rival that turned out to be better than Lech was the Swedish IFK Göteborg, in the second round. Then, the 1993/94 season and defeat at the same stage with Spartak Moscow. The next approach is the 21st century and the 2010/11 campaign. Sparta Praga turned out to be better in the third round. Then the 2015/16 season and losing (also the third round) with the Swiss FC Basel. And the penultimate – including still ongoing – 2022/23, compromising slip -up in the first round of the elimination with Azeri -Karabakh.
