Arena di Verona

On Sunday evening (February 22), the XXV Winter Olympic Games will officially end. The closing ceremony will take place in the beautiful Arena di Verona.

It would seem that we have just begun the sporting excitement on the Apennine Peninsula, and it is now coming to an end. The XXV Winter Olympic Games will end on Sunday evening, February 22, with a great show in the Arena di Verona.

Closing ceremony of the 2026 Olympics. Where and when to watch the event?

Verona, the city of lovers – most associated with the characters of Romeo and Juliet. Arena di Verona is a place that will certainly create an amazing atmosphere for the event, which is expected to last three hours. It is a two-thousand-year-old amphitheater, considered by many experts to be the most prestigious location of the Italian opera and concert scene.

The evening performance is titled: “Beauty in Action”. It is to be a mixture of music, art and the magic of Italian culture – which will attract the attention of the entire sports world.

During the event, you will again be able to see the representations of the countries participating in Winter Olympics 2026, although in much smaller delegations. If we are talking about Poland, the flag-bearer will be Gabriela Topolska (short track), and the flag-bearer will be Olympic vice-champion Vladimir Semirunnij (speed skating).

Interestingly, contrary to previous announcements, Donald Trump will not participate in the closing ceremony of Winter Olympics 2026. The US president was to appear in Verona, and according to the media, his presence depended on the performance of the United States hockey team in the Olympic finals. The USA actually made it to the gold medal match, facing Canada. But President Trump will not reach Italy, although the next Olympics will be held in his homeland – in 2028 in Los Angeles. Although we’re talking about a summer party.

The presence at the closing ceremony was confirmed by, among others: Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni. The head of the Italian government posted on social media special thanks for the organization of the Winter Winter Olympics 2026 and to the athletes themselves for their effort put into sports competition.

Where’s the next Winter Olympics? We will stay in Europe. This time the host will be France, specifically in the French Alps. However, the winter competition will have to wait until the next Olympics, i.e. the four-year period until 2030.

Broadcasts from Winter Olympics 2026 in Poland are provided by Telewizja Polska (TVP) and the Discovery group (Eurosport).

The closing ceremony of the 25th Winter Olympics begins on Sunday evening, from 8:00 p.m.

Winter Winter 2026: Four Olympic medals for the Polish team

The Games on the Apennine Peninsula were quite successful for the Polish team. Looking at the medal achievements, this is the best performance of the Olympic team in red and white colors in over 12 years.

Medals for the Polish national team during the 2026 Winter Olympics were won mainly by ski jumpers. One of them, a 19-year-old Olympic debutant – Kacper Tomasiak – won three of them. The leader of coach Maciej Maciusiak’s team was silver on the normal hill, bronze on the large hill in Predazzo and again the Olympic vice-champion in the duet competition. In the latter case, Paweł Wąsek formed a two-person team with Tomasiak.

We also cannot forget about the first medal for Polish men at the Winter Olympics since 2014. Vladimir Semirunniy reached for it. “Władek” became the Olympic vice-champion in the 10 km distance.

In its history of participation in the Winter Olympics, the Polish team has won a total of 27 medals – seven gold, ten silver and ten bronze, respectively. Interestingly, the first bronze medal for Poland was won by Franciszek Gąsienica-Groń (Nordic combined) almost exactly 70 years ago, during the Olympic Games in… Cortina d’Ampezzo. This year, history has come full circle in a beautiful Italian-Polish Olympic circle.

Speaking of history, another special story happened during Winter Olympics 2026. Namely, Klaudia Adamek was the first in the history of Polish Olympism to take part in both the summer and winter games. A former athlete and participant of the Olympic Games in Tokyo (2021) in the 4×100 meters relay, she completed the Olympic set by starting in Italy (2026) in the bobsled doubles.
