The best airline in the world has been chosen. LOT has no reason to be happy
Skytrax has published its annual ranking of the world’s best airlines. This time, Poland’s LOT has fallen by nine positions.
This is the moment that many aviation fans wait for all year. Consulting company Skytrax has awarded the “Oscars of aviation”. The list of the 100 best airports in the world in 2024 has been published. Compared to last year’s list, the winner has changed, as has the position of Polish Airlines LOT. The national carrier has dropped nine spots and is currently in 95th position.
The best airline in the world
According to Skytrax, Qatar Airways is the most deserving airline in the world this year, having been the runner-up in 2023. Last year’s winner, Singapore Airlines, came in second. The top five positions were completed by Emirates, Japanese carrier ANA All Nippon Airways and Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong. The top ten included only two European airlines – Air France in 9th place and Swiss International Air Lines in 10th. The leaders were also joined by Turkish Airlines (7th place) and Japan Airlines and EVA Air from Taiwan (in sixth and eighth place respectively). Korean Air, a carrier that plans to launch flights to Poland, landed in 11th place (one place lower than last year).
LOT’s decline
Last year, LOT Polish Airlines took 86th place, ahead of Wizz Air, Air Arabia, TAP Portugal and Brussels Airlines. This year, the Polish carrier did not do so well. LOT dropped nine places, ultimately taking 95th place. We managed to beat Wizz Air again, which did not make it into the top 100. However, the Polish airline does not give us any reason to worry. By 2028, the company plans to launch at least twenty new routes, both short connections around Europe and longer intercontinental routes. These may include destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Almaty, Bangkok or Singapore.
