The AX-4 mission started. Poland paid millions
The flight of a Pole into space cost us EUR 65 million. The government ensures that the investment in space technologies will quickly pay Poland.
On Wednesday at 8:31 Polish time, the AX-4 mission took off, in which Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski participated. Poland paid about EUR 65 million for this flight. Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański, however, believes that it is well spent. On Radio ZET he emphasized that Poland must invest in modern technologies, and the space sector is a strategic area in which it is worth engaging public funds.
The money will pay off
According to Minister Domański, space technologies should be an important element of building the country’s economic potential. In his opinion, the expenses incurred to participate in the space mission is part of a wider strategy for the development of innovation. He argued that investments in science and innovation would bring long -term benefits, and the funds spent for this purpose would “pay back many times.”
– Poland must invest in education. Poland must invest in innovations, in technologies – Poland must participate in the development of these most key technologies and certainly space -related technologies are in the area in which the Polish state must invest – said Andrzej Domański on the radio antenna.
Higher premium
Poland also increased its premium to the European Space Agency. As Łukasz Wilczyński from the European Space Foundation explained, each ESA member country pays a compulsory and additional premium, which it allocates to his chosen programs. The decision to increase the premium enabled Poland to participate in exploration programs and the presence of ESA astronauts in the corps.
In total, in the years 2023–2025 Polish expenses for the space sector are to reach EUR 360 million. Minister Domański assured that the country should be the leader of innovation in Europe, and investments in space are an important part of this.
He added that although national security is a priority, it does not support the rigid entry of expenses in the level of 4 percent in the constitution. GDP. He believes that budget decisions should be made flexibly and from year to year.
